How to take part in a select committee statement

Step-by-step:

These steps are for you as an MP, rather than your staff.

  1. Make sure you are seated in the Chamber in time to hear the start of the select committee statement.
  2. Once the Chair of the committee has finished making the statement, stand in your place to indicate to the Speaker that you want to ask a question. Keep rising to your feet every time the Chair of the committee sits down until your name is called (or the time runs out).
  3. When the Speaker calls your name, ask your question. Then sit down and wait for the Chair of the committee to answer.
